Synopsis

Peter Pan syndrome: unwell adults who do not accept their responsibilities or who do not want to accept them, like for example, family, couples, work, etc. The Rubik company seeks to reflect on this very contemporary theme. Nowadays in our society there is a constant demand for youth and the need to be an adult is put off as long as possible; youth is admired above all the other ages. Why is this so? Is it so bad or ugly to get older? Should we perhaps reject wrinkles? Shouldn’t we evaluate the experience of getting older? We’ll ask all these questions of ourselves and the audience.

Company

The Rubik company was founded in 2013 and lived between the Basque Country and Catalonia, until the end of 2016 when it ended up basing itself in the Basque Country. Its will is to experiment in new languages.

This company is made up by Estitxu Zaldua and Juanjo Herrero, both with degrees from the Institut del Teatre (Barcelona) and they work in turn with other collaborators. Its pieces are based on dance, the manipulation of objects and applied biomechanics.
The trajectory of the Rubik company has 3 pieces: "NºIV La fiesta de la vida se celebra de diversas formas", its first performance with which it toured throughout the state. The second was "Web Important People", premiered at La Fundición Bilbao and, together with "Puer Aeternus", the winner of the Teatro de bolsillo 2018 (Donostia Kultura). In 2019 it will premiere a new project as winners of the 4th edition of Zubi Proiektua. In the latter two works they collaborated with the playwright Xabier López Askasibar, producing a collective creation.
