Synopsis

GAG* is a question, it’s an attempt to pose a stage problem (problem: something thrown up in front of you – to pose a difficulty for the stage – from the lecture by Diego Agulló).
An invitation which has to do with attributing meaning to things, in this case to a body that is moving. An attempt to generate a terrain of the impossibility of signifying out of an excess of performing – emptying? power? boredom? Will the meanings be a construction or will they be inherent to the material which they signify? What is produced in the overdose of meanings which interrupt a logic of relations of superimposing the body and words? What body? GAG is a question about a body dancing on stage today.

*From the term indicating, above all, something that is put in or over a person's mouth to prevent them from speaking, and afterwards the improvisation of an actor in order to compensate for a loss of memory or an inability to speak.

Company

The Coletivo Qualquer was founded in 2008 in Lisbon out of a meeting between Luciana Chieregati (Brazil) and Ibon Salvador (Basque Country), both of them researchers and choreographers.
Down the years their interest has focused on elaborating dance pieces crossing and intersecting with contemporary philosophy. They invest their energy in elaborating cutting edge works which dialogue with the everyday, shifting the layout of theatrical space and, above all, they investigate the creation of languages from choreography.

The collective has experienced different proposals such as coordinating the Seu Vicente Artistic Residences Space in Lisbon (2010-2012) and participating in a Masters in Performing Arts Practice and Visual Culture in Madrid. Since 2013 the collective has been based in Bilbao, from where it has developed, within the context of the Iberian Peninsula, the choreographic projects OVER, Huts–Artean, GAG, Lecturas Irreparables and It was a large room. Currently, it maintains a constant relationship with South America, presenting its pieces and workshops in Brazil, Argentina and Mexico, creating rewarding collaboration and research networks between those contexts and the Basque Country.
