Synopsis

The so-called Crab Nebula is located 5000 light years away. Up there. A crown measuring 8 light years in diameter, the remains of a moribund star that few people notice. Being silent. I move forward making constant calculations. How long does a glance last? I move carefully, trying not to break any of the rules that keep the universe balanced. My arm gets distracted and tangled; it holds me up. Meanwhile the earth’s disc wanes. How many times have I looked at you? Time unfolds and plays. A time that comes from afar and rests kindly behind it all. The body positions itself. I think in pictures, and build in this way. I reach a place of tranquillity and calm where I understand the soft touch of the surfaces.

Guided by some type of homing instinct, a hand runs over a soft surface. The pressure registers light friction which forewarns a little further. And there this small event multiplies and rebounds in all directions. I advance. The distance between my body and everything else is no longer the same, I have to look again at everything from this new place. Everything has changed in relation to everything else. Calm is the wrong behaviour. My soft throat moves away. And this event leaves its mark on the slow turning of the world, as a sign of recognition. When the subject moves, it does so in time. That is where we are, wanting to feel time in everything again. We also want to wander, imagining.

Company

Choreographer and performer. Since 2000, Blanca Arrieta has been enquiring into the particularities of movement and the perception of time in both a stage and interpretative sense. She ventures to search for a methodology that might allow her to create small worlds out of the physical, filling the space of tensions and questioning our limits, pursuing detail and subtleties. Blanca’s works are the result of a detailed investigation in which she plays with the balance between movement and gesture, going into depth in an always personal language which is born out of her very own body.

In the last few years she has premiered: "Sujetos" (Subjects, 2015),”Argh!” (2014), the “Frágil“ (Fragile, 2008-10) project promoted by the ‘Teatro La Fundición’ (Bilbao) together with ‘L'Agora de la Danse’ (Montreal) and co-produced by ‘Montréal Danse’ (Canada), “Chalada” (Crazy, 2009), “En la ciudad de los ángeles” (In the city of angels, 2008), “Rest” (2007) co-produced by the ‘Teatre Mercat de Les Flors’ (Barcelona), “Muda” (Moulting 2007), “Memoria” (Memory, 2005), “Efecto mariposa” (Butterfly effect, 2005), “3.600” (2004), “Zero” (2002) and “Vértigo” (2000).
