Release datea: 2018

Synopsis

With almost three decades separating them, they share something personal that is dance, without any pretension and from a playful gaze they adopt a common space in which the transmission appears as a starting point in order to speak about the passage of time.
The topic of the “passage of time” criss-crosses throughout the whole piece, in a subtle way, without any seriousness, without any nostalgia.
A duo in which Matxalen continues demonstrating her experience in managing “space time”. With this work she has opened up new territories which she had not explored previously: transformations of the face, the insertion of texts. An extremely moving piece with a very discrete expressivity mixed with abstraction. A generous dance, inhabited and restrained at the same time; a dance which goes to the heart of the matter and which irradiates without any fuss.

During these 15 years as an artist Matxalen Bilbao has outlined a personal vocabulary, interested in digging deep into and developing her own thought she continues to stress her own concerns rigorously and methodically, tracing a coherent path which reveals an instinct for movement and its spatial-temporal organisation as a means of expressing ideas.

She is qualified in Primary Education, specialising in Human Sciences, studying at the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU). She obtained a master’s degree in Arts and Performing Sciences from the UPV-EHU, 2007-2008. Eleven pieces endorse her career. Her standout pieces are Gear (2015), Self (2013), Sast! (2009), Haiku4 (2007), Capricho (Whim, 2005), Lotura (Tie, 2004) and Mutis (2003).
